Clear Vision Starts Here
A quick, gentle procedure, tailored to your eyes and your lifestyle. A lifetime of clearer, more vibrant vision. See what’s possible with today’s advanced cataract care.
What Are Cataracts?
A cataract is a clouding of your eye’s natural lens, the clear structure behind your pupil that helps focus light. As proteins in the lens break down over time, your vision gradually becomes blurred, hazy, or washed out.
Cataracts are the most common age-related vision condition in the world, affecting more than half of Americans by age 75. The good news? Cataract surgery is one of the most successful procedures in all of medicine, with millions performed safely every year.

Want More Than Just Clear Vision?
Standard cataract surgery restores clear vision at one distance. But if you’d like to reduce or even eliminate your need for glasses, lifestyle lens implants can take your results further.
Multifocal and astigmatism-correcting lenses are designed to match your vision to your lifestyle — whether that means reading, driving, golf, or all of the above.
How Do You Know It's Time?
Most cataracts develop slowly. You may not notice anything at first. But over time, you might experience:
- Blurred or dim vision, even with updated glasses
- Increased sensitivity to glare, especially while driving at night
- Colors that look faded or yellowish
- Difficulty reading in low light
- Frequent changes to your eyeglass prescription
- Halos around lights
If any of these sound familiar, it may be time for a cataract evaluation.
“The entire procedure took less than 20 minutes, and now I’m no longer afraid to drive after dark.“

Common Questions About Cataract Surgery
What should I expect during my cataract evaluation?
Your evaluation will take about 1.5 hours. We’ll perform a series of diagnostic tests to measure your eye and assess your overall eye health. Then Dr. Rodila will sit down with you to discuss your lifestyle, vision goals, and which lens option is the best fit for you. Your eyes will be dilated, so many patients find it helpful to bring a family member or friend — they can be part of the conversation about your options and drive you home afterward.
Is cataract surgery painful?
No. Your eye is numbed with drops before the procedure, and most patients feel only light pressure. Many are surprised by how comfortable the experience is.
How long does cataract surgery take?
The procedure itself typically takes 15–20 minutes. Plan on being at the surgery center for about two hours total to allow time for prep and recovery.
When will I notice clearer vision?
Most patients see a significant improvement within 24–48 hours. Your vision will continue to sharpen over the following days as your eye heals.
Will I still need glasses after surgery?
It depends on the lens you choose. A standard monofocal lens restores clear vision at one distance, so you may still need glasses for reading or driving. Lifestyle lenses can reduce or eliminate your dependence on glasses altogether.
Is cataract surgery covered by insurance?
Yes. Cataract surgery with single-focus lens replacement is covered by Medicare and most private insurance plans. Lifestyle lenses involve additional out-of-pocket cost, which we’ll explain clearly before you make any decisions.
What if I have astigmatism?
Astigmatism can be corrected at the time of cataract surgery with a Toric lens implant. Dr. Rodila will evaluate your eyes and recommend the best option during your consultation.
